SUSSEX COUNTY FIRE/EMS COMPANY CHANNELS

Sussex County licensed each fire/EMS company on a unique UHF "company channel" (shown below) along with the primary dispatch/alerting channel (453.7). Some Motorola Minitor voice pagers can scan two channels, allowing the user to monitor 453.7 and a company channel, which often simulcasts whatever 800 MHz talkgroups the fire/EMS company chooses. Although licensed, not all company channels are in use.

DELAWARE'S DIGITAL TRUNKED RADIO SYSTEM

Each of the state's three counties is a unique zone.  Several intelli-repeaters (IRs), however, were latter added to enhance reception in poor-coverage areas.  The only IR in Sussex County was at the main Rehoboth Beach firehouse and was designated as Zone 4.  It was deactivated in Sept. 2002.  All of Sussex County is now covered by the 10 channels listed in Zone 3.

DELMARVA POWER (CONECTIV) ANALOG TRUNKED RADIO SYSTEM

Conectiv networked more than 20 trunking zones, including the old Atlantic Energy sites in South Jersey, into a single system which provides coverage in the company's service territory from Atlantic City to Norfolk.  Since Conectiv abandoned its 48 MHz radio system, all employees use this 800 MHz analog Motorola SmartZone SmartNet Type II system.  Conectiv leases extra capacity to external users to maintain sufficient system loading to retain the licenses.  The two zones which serve the areas covered by the Delaware and Maryland beaches appear below.
