FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT PRESS RELEASE:

LOCATION: EAST BOUND RT 90 EAST OF ST MARTINS NECK RD

VEHICLE #1 2003 Kawasaki ZX-6 Motorcycle

OPERATOR #1. Brandon Matthew Richardson, W/M, 20 yoa, Bishopville, Maryland

NARRATIVE:

On the above date and time, Troopers from the Berlin Barrack were dispatched to the area of E/B US RT 90 east of ST Martins Neck RD for a report of a single motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, Troopers learned that the operator/sole occupant of a 2003 Kawasaki ZX-6 motorcycle had lost control and collided into the guardrail in the center median. The above operator was later pronounced dead at Atlantic General Hospital. Several witness statements were obtained and an Accident Reconstructionist responded to the scene to investigate further. The operator was wearing a helmet prior to the collision. Eastbound MD RT 90 was shut down at MD RT 589 and westbound MD RT 90 was closed at the base of 62nd Street leaving Ocean City. Traffic was diverted by the S.O.C. and SHA until the investigation at the scene was concluded. The investigation is on-going at this time.
