State Police Help Promote Bicycle Safety at Annual Bike Safety Fair
Rehoboth Beach- The Delaware State Police, Ocean Atlantic Agency, Sussex Cyclists and DelDOT are continuing to combine forces in 2007 to promote safe cycling in the Rehoboth-Dewey-Lewes beach area. Ocean Atlantic Agency, the primary corporate sponsor, will host the “Use Your Head Bike Safety Fair” on Monday, June 18, 2007, from 9am to 5pm at the sales office located at 330 Rehoboth Avenue in downtown Rehoboth Beach.
The Sussex County Council, Delaware State Police, and others have generously provided their financial support, teaming up to give away helmets, lights and reflectors to promote safe cycling. This year’s event will include: bicycle safety training workshops for children - the Bicycle Rodeo, distribution of free bicycle helmets, lights, and refreshments. In addition, information on both bicycling and the beach area for visitors or summer seasonal workers will be available.
For those unable to attend the June 18 fair, free helmets will be given out at the Ocean Atlantic Agency sales office for the remainder of the summer until supplies run out. Also, several times a week in July, Bike Safety Checkpoints along Route 1 and other locations will be set up to offer riders’ bike safety checks, helmets, lights and bike safety information tips.
