TWO OFFICERS INJURED DURING ARREST

 

Two Ocean City Police Officers were treated at Atlantic General Hospital early this morning after a struggle with a man who was resisting arrest.

 

Cpl. Lesa Breneman was approached by a man whose car was broken into. One of the items stolen was a cell phone. While speaking with the officer, the victim attempted to call his own number. The victim recognized the distinctive ring coming from a pocket of a man standing near them.

 

The man, 20 year old Jason Martin of Mohton, Pennsylvania, began to run. Cpl. Breneman, along with Cpl. Frank Wrench chased Martin and attempted to subdue him. During the violent struggle, both officers were injured.

 

Cpl. Wrench suffered a broken hand and is expected to out for 6-8 weeks. Cpl. Breneman bruised her hand and will be out of worked for two days.

 

Martin was arrested and charged with Second Degree Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Theft charges. He is currently being held on $75,000 bond.
