BRIEF RESUME: On said date and time, Troopers of the Maryland State Police responded to the area of US Rte. 113 and Groton Road, Pocomoke City, Worcester County Maryland for a reported downed aircraft. Upon their arrival, a “Hawk” ultralight – tail number N3525J– crashed in the median in the above location. The pilot, Preston Smith walked away from the incident uninjured. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) were notified as well as the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) of the incident. The FAA and NTSB will be responding to the Maryland State Police Barrack in Berlin to conduct the post crash investigation on Monday 7/20/2009

Preliminary results indicate the aircraft experience fuel complications. No further action was taken. The roadway remained open, but lanes were restricted to allow for the aircraft recovery. Traffic is free flowing in all directions as of this release.
