UPDATE ON FREEMAN CASE

Christy Freeman has been released from the hospital.  She was transported back to police headquarters.  Currently, she is being processed and will have an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner later this evening.

Detectives are still actively investigating this case.  A report from the Medical Examiner’s office is expected sometime next week.

Freeman was charged under the “viable fetus statute” which was enacted in 2005. Once the investigation has concluded and the Medical Examiner’s report is complete, the State’s Attorney’s Office is expected to convene the Grand Jury to examine this case.

This case is still under review by the State’s Attorney’s office, and at his request, no further information may be given at this time.
