BIDENS RETURN TO BEACH HOUSE FOR SUMMER VACATION!

On Friday, the President joined the First Lady at the Biden beach house around 8 p.m. via a motorcade that departed from Dover Air Force Base. According to USAF VIP LOGISTICS, this is the President's 17th visit to his beach house since taking office and the third since Memorial Day.

This could potentially be his longest stay here yet since becoming President. An FAA temporary flight restriction (TFR) for the Rehoboth area started on July 28 and will continue through August 6. But the White House schedule shows the First Couple heading to their Wilmington home on Friday.

The First Lady had arrived already last Wednesday via a seven-vehicle motorcade from Dover. When the President was coming on Friday, Marine One was canceled because of bad weather and that suddenly left the entourage scurrying to motorcade to Dover. Meanwhile, bomb dogs checked items like dumpsters and porta-johns along the motorcade route. This time they marked them with a red "X" (a blue triangle had been used previously).

Here's the President's 23-vehicle motorcade as it entered the city limits and traveled down Henlopen Avenue.

On Saturday, the President came to town for 4 p.m. mass at Saint Edmond's Catholic Church in this 17-vehicle motorcade. Earlier in the day, the First Lady, Natalie Biden and a friend were spotted under an umbrella on the beach in the usual spot in North Shores. That's the security detail in the back of the beach. Dr. Biden is in the white top and Natalie appears to be waving her hand.

The President joined the family on the beach on Sunday. TMZ posted these "exclusive" photos and video last night.

Around noon last Thursday, the First Lady came through Dewey Beach on a long bike ride from the Biden beach house through Dewey down to Bethany on Coastal Highway.

iDewey had posted these photos which seem to show her on the far right being trailed by Secret Service agents on bikes and in SUVs. But did anybody actually see Hunter Biden in Dewey? Here she was photographed approaching mile marker 13.0 which is near Old Inlet Bait & Tackle.

Other than the President, Biden family members have been regulars in town this summer. So keep an eye open and the camera handy!

KIDS CAUGHT VANDALIZING RBP STAND

Lifeguards and police caught four kids damaging the lifeguard stand on Brooklyn Avenue and trying to drag it into the ocean around 8:50 p.m. this past Thursday. Oddly, this took place during the Rehoboth Lifeguard Olympics, shown here.

Police took two girls and two boys to the police station to wait for their parents. No word yet from police on any motive or charges.

REHOBOTH LIFEGUARDS DRAG DEAD SHARK TO SHORE

Lifeguards in Rehoboth Beach spotted this dead shark floating in the ocean off Rehoboth Avenue around 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. Using a rope and the kayak, they towed it to the far south edge of town where they pulled it onto the beach and buried it near the dunes.

Rich King from Delaware-Surf-Fishing.com says this is a sand tiger shark and its injury appears to have been a missed gaff strike.

MERR RESCUES SEA TURTLE SNAGGED BY FISHING HOOK

Suzanne Thurman from the MERR Institute says her organization helped save this Kemp's ridley sea turtle in Slaughter Beach who got caught by a fishing hook last week. The fisherman took the turtle to the Dupont Nature Center which got in touch with MERR. The turtle actually ingested the hook, so it required surgery for removal which was performed at the Virginia Aquarium and Science Center.

"The turtle successfully went through surgery and the hook was removed from the esophagus. It's recovering nicely and hopefully, it can be released soon," Thurman said on Saturday. Kemp's ridleys are the most endangered sea turtle species worldwide, Thurman points out, so they are all hoping that she gets through surgery and can soon be returned to the wild to resume her life.

This Kemp's ridley sea turtle was MERR's only response this past week. There were some sightings of dolphins in the creeks off of the inland bays, she added, but they seemed healthy.

OSPREYS AS PHOTOGRAPHED FROM THE STAR OF THE SEA!

Ospreys, sometimes called "fishing hawks," were described thusly by my favorite 18th-century human being, Benjamin Franklin, when giving his opinion of the American bald eagle: "He watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him." Ignoring, for now, his opinion of the moral character of the bald eagle, I will simply say that I agree with Dr. Franklin regarding ospreys. They work very hard. They are patient. They perform incredible acrobatic feats, diving into the ocean…

RAL'S ANNUAL OUTDOOR FINE ART SHOW RETURNS NEXT 2 WEEKENDS!

The Rehoboth Art League's signature summer event, the Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Show, returns to Henlopen Acres for the first two weekends in August. Now in its 50th year, the event provides the opportunity for more than 100 artists and artisans from across the country to display and sell their fine art and fine crafts in a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic painting, pastel painting, fine jewelry, wood, metal, photography, ceramics, mixed media and more.

The show will include food, live music, artist demonstrations, gallery exhibitions, beautiful gardens, the historic Peter Marsh Homestead, and a Dogfish Head Beer Garden!

More than 100 volunteers assist with this two-weekend event. There is a weekend entry fee of $5 for adults. There is no charge for children under the age of 12. Tickets can be purchased with cash or credit card at the gate. RAL provides complimentary transportation to the event using Jolly Trolley shuttles from the Rehoboth Elementary School.

WOMAN STRUCK IN HEAD BY UMBRELLA TAKEN TO HOSPITAL--- A woman was taken to the hospital this past Friday after she was hit in the head by a flyaway umbrella around 4:20 p.m. near the Cape Henlopen State Park fishing pier. She complained of jaw pain and loss of hearing in one ear.

ANOTHER SCOOTER CRASHES INTO AUTO ON COASTAL HIGHWAY BUS LANE--- Delaware State police are investigating a collision between a scooter and a white 2016 Nissan Maxima that happened on Coastal Highway near the Midway Candy Kitchen around 3:40 p.m. last Thursday. The driver of the Maxima, says Cpl. Anthony Jerome Carter, Jr., state police spokesman, was heading south on Coastal Highway in the left-turn lane, but as the Maxima crossed the northbound lanes toward Candy Kitchen, it crossed into the scooter's path on the bus lane. The scooter driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said. There have been no charges at this time, Cpl. Carter stated, but the investigation is still ongoing.

POLICE EUTHANIZE SEAGULL AFTER SODA CAN ATTACK--- Just as the President was arriving in Rehoboth Beach, around 7:50 p.m. this past Friday, police investigated a complaint that a seagull was being targeted with a soda can by a group of a dozen people on the beach off Laurel Street. The seagull was later euthanized by police. Lt. Jaime Riddle, police spokesman, said on Sunday that the suspect who threw the can had left before police arrived.

MISSING CHILD FOUND IN SWIMMING POOL--- Multiple agencies had been searching last Monday evening for a missing four-year-old child. That child was eventually found unconscious in a swimming pool off Piney Neck Road northeast of Dagsboro. The state police helicopter, which had been on the search, flew the child to the hospital in cardiac arrest. The child was pronounced dead. State troopers are investigating.
