DSP News Release: Trooper Finds Marijuana after Traffic Stop

Location: Angola Road south of CR 287, Lewes, Sussex County, DE

Date of Occurrence: Friday, August 28, 2009 at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Suspect(s): Daevon B. Harmon, 20, Rehoboth, DE

Delaware State Police have arrested a Rehoboth man after a traffic stop near Lewes.

Last evening just before midnight a state troopers stopped a Lincoln LS for a traffic violation. The trooper was speaking with the driver when he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. The trooper observed a pizza box in the vehicle. When the Harmon removed the box from the car the trooper noticed some plastic coming from the sides of the box. When the trooper looked in the box he observed several plastic bags containing suspected marijuana. The trooper also confiscated several bottles of liquor from the passenger compartment of the car.

Harmon and the driver were transported to Troop 7. He was charged with possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of alcohol. He was arraigned at Court 3 in Georgetown. No bail information was available at the time of this release.

Troopers recovered 81.7 grams of marijuana as a result of the investigation.
