On Saturday, July 7, 2007 at approximately 11:50 a.m. State Troopers responded to Shuttle Road and the entrance to Tanger Outlets Bayside just north of Rehoboth Beach to investigate a crash involving a motorcycle.

Upon arrival investigators learned that a 1990 Volvo 740 operated by Elaine Mason, 42, of Arnold, MD, was stopped southbound in the left turn lane at the entrance of Tanger Outlets Bayside at Shuttle Rd.  The Volvo failed to remain stopped and yield the right of way to a westbound 2006 Ducati motorcycle operated by Richard Beebe, 40, of Rehoboth Beach. As a result, the motorcycle struck the Volvo and Mr. Beebe was ejected.

Beebe was wearing a helmet.  He was flown to Christiana Hospital, and admitted for chest contusions, abrasions, and injuries to his right kidney.  Mason was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.  Mason was charged with Failing to Remain Stopped and failure to have registration and insurance cards in possession.  Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
